Under the patronage of His Excellency Moeen Al-Mahaqari, Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Yemen celebrated the opening of its first electric car dealership, featuring Chinese-made vehicles, during a grand official ceremony held in Sana’a on September 17, 2024. The event was attended by Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, a member of the Supreme Political Council, along with other senior government officials.
This initiative aligns with the Yemeni government's efforts to promote investments in modern industries, aiming to meet local market demand for environmentally friendly products.
The introduction of electric vehicles is expected to boost the economy, especially considering that Yemen's fuel import bill exceeds $3 billion annually, with 90% spent on gasoline for combustion engines.
During the inauguration, Abdulaziz bin Habtoor called on investors to explore such innovative investments, affirming the government’s readiness to provide all possible facilities to encourage investments in advanced technologies.
