The Sana'a Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced the establishment of a renewable energy sector, aiming to boost investment in this vital field, facilitate importers and manufacturers, and encourage the transition to renewable energy and local production of its components.

This initiative was revealed during an extensive consultative meeting held at the Chamber’s headquarters on Thursday, February 20, 2025, presided over by Ali Mohammed Al-Hadi, Chairman of the Chamber.

Al-Hadi stated that the Chamber relies on the renewable energy sector to play a crucial role in Yemen’s economic and developmental transformation. He emphasized the importance of shifting from import dependency to local manufacturing of renewable energy components, attracting and expanding investments, and broadening the sector’s services to support the national economy. He also highlighted the opportunities provided by the new Investment Law of 2025, which offers incentives and facilities that empower the Chamber’s renewable energy sector to advance efficiently.

During the consultative meeting, which was attended by traders, business leaders, and representatives of companies specializing in various types of renewable energy, Abdullah Muqbil Al-Ra'abi was elected as Chairman, along with an eight-member administrative body and a secretary.

For his part, Abdullah Al-Ra'abi, Chairman of the sector, stated:

"The sector will develop an ambitious action plan to promote the transition to clean energy within private sector companies and industrial and service establishments. This will help reduce costs, ensuring their growth and sustainability. We aim to achieve this through collaboration between the Chamber and government entities. Additionally, we will work towards regulating the renewable energy market and contributing proposals to improve the business environment in this promising sector, in line with the latest global standards and technological advancements."
