As part of the partnership between the private sector and the government, and under the directives of the Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Engineer Mohamed Al-Farza'i, Head of the Projects Sector at the General Investment Authority, took part in a field visit to assess the conditions of the National Company for Sesbania Charcoal and Compressed Wood, located in Hodeidah. He was accompanied by Ayman Al-Kholaki, Deputy Minister for Industry Sector, and Anwar Al-Husseini, a board member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Secretariat.
The visit follows the directives of His Excellency, Engineer Moeen Al-Muhaqri, the Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, to assign a team to visit the factory, identify its challenges, and explore its current status with the goal of proposing solutions for its advancement. Notably, the factory relies on locally sourced production inputs, specifically Sesbania trees, which are available in large quantities in Hodeidah and several other governorates. The factory is the first of its kind in the country.
During the visit, the delegation reviewed the factory's current state and conducted a detailed assessment of the entire production process.
Mr. Al-Farza'i emphasized the importance of restarting the factory at full production capacity, given its significant economic impact on the national economy and its role in supplying the local market with domestic products to reduce reliance on imports.
He also highlighted the Minister’s commitment to enhancing national production across all sectors operated by the private sector, citing the positive impact on economic growth, youth employment, and meeting the market's needs for various goods.
