Footage from the launch of the winter harvest season for wheat produced by private sector companies investing in grains in Al-Jawf Governorate, Yemen, for the year 2024-2025 under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources this week, revealed that the season was characterized by significantly increasing productivity, while the quality of agricultural inputs played a role in distinguishing quality as the seeds were more pure and higher yielding.

The agricultural expansion in Al-Jouf governorate this year witnessed a significant increase thanks to the entry of new investors from the private sector, and it is said that the cultivated areas reached 12,000 hectares, compared to 7,000 hectares last season, an increase of more than 40%, and it is expected that the productivity of this season will be many times the previous productivity, as some farms achieved an increase in production up to three times.

The ministry said that the current season will provide about 150,000 bags of seeds, which will be of high quality, which will contribute to promoting the expansion of wheat cultivation in Al-Jawf governorate and other governorates.

The General Grain Corporation has played a positive role by contributing to the provision of improved, pure and high-quality seeds, and strictly follows the fields, especially the farms of large farmers and investors, in terms of irrigation, fertilization, pesticides, pest control and field purification.

The executive director of the Grain Corporation announced a strategic plan prepared by the organization to expand in the coming season, including reducing the costs of plowing and harvesting, and reducing the prices of wheat seeds to encourage farmers and investors, calling on the concerned authorities to repair the line between Al-Hazm and Al-Labanat, which will encourage those who hesitated to invest last year.
